Building a New Social System
In order to solve current social problems, it is necessary to redesign the relationships in which everything is intricately intertwined. The purpose of establishing SMI is to build a new social system. In order to resolve current social problems, it is necessary to redesign the relationships in which everything is intricately intertwined. If one tries to satisfy the customers only, it would not be a sustainable system for the society.
“Social” in the corporate name comes from the commitment to creating a sustainable society through the provision of SMI’s products and services. “Mobility” comes from enhancing the social mobility (fluidity and movability).
In today's society, the ownership of goods is becoming less meaningful, and the sharing economy is spreading throughout societies. The goal of SMI is to provide products and services so that people are not caught up in things, but reviewing what is the happiness for the individuals and reevaluating the values.
Addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Social Mobility is working on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The SDGs are the successors to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) formulated in 2001, and were stated in the “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015, as the international goal during 2016 through 2030.
Consisting of 17 goals and 169 targets to realize a sustainable world, the Agenda have pledged to leave no one on the globe behind. The SDGs are universal goals to which not only developed countries but developing countries are working on. Hence, Japan will be taking a proactive stance toward them.
OUR BUSINESS
In Order to Build a New Social System that Social Mobility Aspires to Create, SMI will Propose Business Models that Will Bring About Specific Changes in Society.
The first is a proposal for the form of car ownership. Separating the ownership and use is provided by an unprecedented supply of EVs. The second is a proposal for the transition from a house that uses energy to a house that creates energy. The cost of maintaining social infrastructure is expected to increase in the future. The designing of the sustainable society will be provided through the realization of a recycling-oriented society by the development of high performance batteries. The third is the proposal for the resolution of the Last One Mile of logistics that has become a social issue. SMI will design social systems to resolve these issues and release specific products and services by 2020.
